Arsenal and Manchester United set to battle for 28-year-old Bundesliga star: Reports
Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane has reportedly emerged as a target for two of the biggest sides in the Premier League, Arsenal and Manchester United. The Germany international has fallen out of favor at the Allianz Arena following the arrival of manager Vincent Kompany.
Trained in the Schalke 04 academy, Sane left Manchester City for Bayern Munich in 2020, signing a five-year deal with the Bundesliga giants. Still only 28, the forward is now set to leave the club as his contract will expire this season and there is no indication of a new deal in place.
Fichajes.net reports that both Manchester United and Arsenal are on red alert for the experienced forward as they each look to strengthen their attack. The sides will be able to offer Sane a pre-contract agreement in January and sign him in the summer as a free agent.
Manchester United have been left disappointed with the displays of Brazilian winger Antony and are interested in Sane due to his experience and versatility. Arsenal, similarly, are keen on the 28-year-old star as they seek to provide quality cover for Bukayo Saka on the right flank.
Leroy Sane has lost his place at Bayern Munich to former Premier League star Michael Olise, who moved to Germany in the summer from Crystal Palace. He has played only 304 minutes across all competitions for his side this season, indicating his fall down the pecking order.
The German forward has contributed two goals in nine appearances in the league and UEFA Champions League this season.
Manchester United, Arsenal set to enter race for Portugal-based hotshot - Reports
Manchester United and Arsenal have indicated their interest in signing Sweden international striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The former Brighton & Hove Albion man has established himself as one of Europe's leading marksmen this term, hence the reported interest from top sides.
Arsenal were linked with a number or strikers in the summer but ultimately failed to land any of them. Their struggles in front of goal this season have been evident, with Kai Havertz leading the line for the north London outfit. The Gunners have failed to score in each of their last two games, losing to Newcastle United in the Premier League and Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United are also in the race to sign Gyokeres, as they are unsatisfied with the performances of their strikers. The Red Devils signed Joshua Zirkzee in for a reported £36.5 million the summer. The Dutchman has failed to find his best form since completing his transfer, leading the club to consider other alternatives.
Gyokeres is expected to be available for around £70 million in the summer, alerting clubs around Europe. The Swede has scored 16 goals in ten league games for Sporting this season, and five in four games in the UEFA Champions League.
