Arsenal open talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo's teammate wanted by Manchester United: Reports

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks to rope in Manchester United-linked attacker Goevany Quenda, who is Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal teammate, in the future.

Quenda, 17, has popped up as one of the hottest Portuguese prospects in the past couple of months. He has established himself as a vital starter at Sporting CP over the course of the season and earned himself a senior international call-up earlier in September this year.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are keen to rival the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United in the race to sign Quenda. They have contacted the star's agents over a potential move in the near future.

Quenda, who has also drawn interest from Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, has a release clause of around £84 million. Sporting are determined to keep hold of the player until the end of the ongoing campaign.

The Arsenal and Manchester United-linked forward, who has yet to play alongside Ronaldo, has made 17 overall appearances for Sporting. He has scored two goals and registred as many assists for his club.

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand names player Arsenal have missed most this season

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has asserted that the north London outfit have majorly missed captain Martin Odegaard this campaign. He elaborated on his YouTube channel:

"I didn't anticipate him being this important. I think he's a top player and he's pivotal to what Arsenal do. I think he has probably gone down and will look like the most important player to be missed in this team. Other players you can bring in... a centre-half can stop chances here and there but one of the hardest things to do in a game is score goals and before that, you have to create opportunities."

Ferdinand, who won six Premier League titles as a player, added:

"He is the tempo-maker in the team, he helps you retain the ball better than anyone else in the team and then it's about that bit of magic at the end to create the chance. I keep seeing people saying: 'It's a no.9 [that they need]]. You're not creating chances. You can have the best number nine but you're still not getting the ball to him."

Odegaard, who recently returned from his ankle injury, has missed 12 total games for his side this campaign. He has made four appearances across all competitions, starting three of them in the process.

In the past two seasons, the Norwegian scored 26 goals and laid out 18 assists in 93 matches across all competitions for Mikel Arteta's outfit.
