Arsenal plot move for Barcelona star in January window to bolster sqaud: Reports

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are planning to sign Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres in the January transfer window, as per SPORT. Apart from the Gunners, Aston Villa are also said to be interested in securing the Spaniard's services.

The former Manchester City attacker joined Barcelona in January 2022 and has since made 123 appearances for them across competitions, bagging 26 goals and 15 assists.

However, the 24-year-old is currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Additionally, he has also fallen down the pecking order, with Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski all in stellar form.

Since the October international break, the La Liga giants have recorded dominating victories over Sevilla (5-1), Bayern Munich (4-1) and Real Madrid (4-0). Lewandowski is currently the leading goalscorer in LaLiga with 14 goals, while Raphinha is third with seven strikes and Lamine Yamal is fifth with five.

Torres has started five games for Blaugrana this season in LaLiga, primarily as a part of the rotation. However, as per the aforementioned report, the La Liga giants are open to selling the 24-year-old in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are currently the frontrunners in the race to sign the Spanish attacker.

Arsenal and Liverpool to battle for €100 million rated Brazilian defender: Reports

Arne Slot's Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, as per Football Insider. The 18-year-old's current contract with Palmeiras will expire in December 2028 but his deal includes a €100 million release clause.

As per the aforementioned report, the Reds see Vitor Reis as the long-term replacement for club captain Virgil van Dijk. Meanwhile, the Gunners aim to sign the Palmeiras youngster to bolster their central defensive options.

Reis has made 17 appearances for Palmeiras' senior squad across competitions, scoring two goals. According to ESPN Brazil, the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the 18-year-old.
