Arsenal set to make move for PSG target amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea - Reports
Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. Other top European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Swede.
Gyokeres has taken the world by storm since his €24 million move from Coventry City to Sporting CP. He's scored 63 goals and provided 19 assists in 66 games across competitions. The 26-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in world football and could be on the move soon.
As per Caught Offside (via PSGTalk), Arsenal, Manchester United, PSG, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all interested in signing Gyokeres. The Swede's contract with Sporting expires in 2028 and it has a release clause worth €100 million. However, as per journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is an agreement between the club and the striker to let him leave for around €60-70 million next summer.
While he also might be available in January, Arsenal are set to lay ground to bring him to the Emirates next summer. Gyokeres has been in terrific form this season as well, contributing 20 goals and four assists in 16 games across competitions this season for Sporting CP.
Arsenal and Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres opens up on his future
Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP as their new manager. The Portuguese will take charge at Old Trafford from November 11, when the international break starts. Hence, some reports have also linked Viktor Gyokeres to a potential move to Old Trafford.
With the likes of Arsenal also interested in him, the Sweden international recently said about his future:
"Going with Amorim to Manchester United? I don’t know. I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I really think about. I’m sad about him [Amorim] leaving. We wish him all the best."
Manchester United need to add more attacking firepower to their ranks. Only Crystal Palace (6) and Southampton (6) have scored fewer goals than the Red Devils (8) in the Premier League this season. Their main strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored just one goal each in the league this season.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are fifth in the goal-scoring charts this season in the Premier League but have played without a traditional No. 9 in the last two seasons. Kai Havertz has scored four league goals in nine games while Gabriel Jesus has yet to open his account.
