Arsenal superstar subject of surprise transfer tussle between Real Madrid and PSG, Gunners have no intention to sell: Reports
Arsenal defender William Saliba has reportedly drawn interest from top European clubs Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). As per CaughtOffSide, these clubs will look to sign the France international despite him being an integral part of the Gunners' squad (via Fichajes.net).
As per the aforementioned report, it is Los Blancos who seem more keen on Saliba's signature, with the team out on a hunt for a centre-half this summer. The Spanish side have also been linked with Lille youngster Leny Yoro but are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Currently, Real Madrid have ageing centre-backs in Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba. On top of that, they faced multiple injury problems in this position during the 2023/24 season.
Given the situation, it isn't surprising to see them being linked with a move for Saliba. However, this report also clarifies that the north Londoners have no interest in selling their young defender.
Saliba has solidified his place in the Arsenal starting XI alongside Gabriel. The pair were brilliant in the 2023/24 season for the Gunners and contributed to their team conceding the least goals in the Premier League (29).
Moreover, Mikel Arteta and Co. are on the right trajectory, missing out on the English top-flight title by just two points to Manchester City in the season gone by. It's unlikely that Saliba will be looking to move out of the Emirates this summer, with three years left on his current deal.
Arsenal interested in signing Italian defender this summer - Reports
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori in the summer transfer window. This is according to GIVEMESPORT, who also claim that it is the Gunners who most wish to get a deal done for the Italy international.
However, the 22-year-old left-footed centre-back has more than sufficient suitors around Europe. Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with interest in Calafiori.
Currently, the defender is contracted with his Italian employers till the summer of 2027 and could cost a fair bit. To date, the youngster has made 43 Serie A appearances, bagging two goals and seven assists.
However, he may have to think twice about a move to Emirates, with Gabriel already having locked down a position on the left-hand side of central defense. Calafiori's future may become more certain now, with Italy out of the European Championships.
