Arsenal target rejects stunning Saudi Pro League offer; set to join PL rivals - Reports
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal target Amadou Onana has rejected a mega offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli. As per David Ornstein, Onana is set to join Aston Villa instead.
Onana, who was a key player for Belgium during the Red Devils' Euro 2024 campaign, reportedly rejected a three-year contract from Al-Ahli. He has attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and more.
However, David Ornstein has reported that Villa are close to finalizing a £50 million deal with Everton for Onana. Ornstein added that Villa and Onana have already agreed on personal terms over a long-term contract.
Onana had an impressive campaign with Everton in 2023-24, scoring thrice and providing one assist in 37 appearances across competitions. The 17-time Belgium international played the full games in all four matches for Domenico Tedesco's team during Euro 2024.
Onana is now set to start a new chapter at Villa and will play in the UEFA Champions League in 2024-25. Unai Emery's side finished fourth in the EPL in 2023-24.
William Gallas names Euro 2024 star as striker Arsenal should sign
William Gallas reckons Arsenal should sign Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins. Watkins recently showed his class by scoring an eye-catching late winner against the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
Gallas has claimed that Watkins would help Martin Odegaard flourish more. Speaking to Lord Ping, he said:
"He has the pace you need to have as a striker, and with a player like Martin Odeaard behind him, it would be magnificent. Think of all the assists."
Gallas added that it's difficult to defend against a striker like Watkins who is clever with his runs. Hence, a combination between him and Odegaard could be spectacular, as per Gallas.
Watkins, 28, had a stellar campaign with Villa last term, scoring 27 goals and providing 13 assists in 53 appearances across competitions.
