Arsenal will demand €200 million for star player amid interest from Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City - Reports
Arsenal have reportedly set a stunning price tag on Bukayo Saka amid interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Gunners are unwilling to listen to any offers below €200 million, while also opening contract talks with the Englishman.
As per a report in CaughtOffside (via TBR Football), Saka is a target for Madrid, Manchester City, and PSG, while Bayern Munich are also interested in the Englishman. The Gunners have no plans to sell their prized asset but have set a massive price tag on him.
The fee is just €22 million lower than Neymar's clause at Barcelona which was activated by PSG in 2017. Mikel Arteta's side are in talks with Saka to extend his deal at the club after impressing in the last two seasons. His current deal expires in 2027.
The report adds that the contract talks have been put on hold for the time being as Bukayo Saka is with the national team. The club are looking to reopen the talks when the star player returns from EURO 2024.
Bukayo Saka was told to leave Arsenal for Manchester City by David James
Former Premier League goalkeeper David James spoke to gaming news website GGRecon (via football.london) in 2022 and claimed that Bukayo Saka should've been thinking about leaving Arsenal. He believed that the winger needed to join Manchester City so that he could challenge for trophies and said:
"I do like what Mikel Arteta is doing at Arsenal and Bukayo Saka is a big part of that, I can, however, understand why players want to move. Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you’ve been at a club for a while, and even when things change, you still feel that you need a change yourself.
"If there’s a chance of Saka moving to Manchester City, then he’d be joining the best team in England over recent years. Arsenal are currently the best team in England as we speak, purely from their league position, but more than likely Manchester City are going to challenge them for that position."
He added:
"The question is, would Saka be given enough game time at Manchester City? It’s almost guaranteed rotation when you’re fit because that’s what Pep Guardiola does.
"Anyone who goes to Manchester City knows they’re not going there to play every game... I believe he’d be a wonderful addition for Manchester City. I’ve got a lot of Arsenal friends, so I believe he should move to Manchester City."
Bukayo Saka signed a new deal at the Emirates in 2023, keeping him at the club until 2027. The new contract sees him collect around £15 million in wages per season as per Capology.
