Barcelona among clubs keeping tabs on ex-La Masia star, club seen as probable next destination for player: Reports
Barcelona are reportedly among the host of clubs keeping tabs on highly regarded Dutch attacker Xavi Simons. As reported by David Ornstein via Reshad Rehman on X, the Blaugrana are looking to reunite with the youngster who developed from their own academy.
Simons spent nine years in Barcelona's youth setup and used to be one of the brightest talents in his age group. However, the La Masia graduate was snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2019 before making a single appearance for the Catalan giants.
The versatile attacking midfielder has had an interesting career thus far having already played for clubs like PSG, PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig. He switched PSG for PSV in 2022 before moving back to PSG again a year later but has since been away on loan to RB Leipzig.
Aged just 21, Simons is regarded as one of the biggest talents in world football and is already experienced at the highest level. He has been a key player for Leipzig having produced 13 goals and 17 assists in 54 games for the Bundesliga giants so far.
Simons' exploits have quite naturally seen him attract interest from some of the biggest clubs across Europe. Clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have been linked with him in the past.
It has now been claimed that Barcelona are also eyeing a move for the former La Masia graduate. However, their financial situation will be a major stumbling block in any deal as the Dutchman will likely cost a fortune.
Barcelona superstar wanted by Arne Slot's Liverpool: Reports
Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry about Barcelona playmaker Gavi who has fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou. As reported by Spanish outlet Nacional, Arne Slot's side are keen on the highly rated Spanish midfielder.
Gavi has played just 241 minutes of football this season having only started twice in his 12 appearances for Barca this season. Hansi Flick seems to prefer Marc Casado and Pedri in a double pivot which has seen Gavi become a peripheral figure.
The 20-year-old emerged as one of the biggest talents in world football when he broke into Barcelona's senior setup in 2021. He has already made 123 appearances for the Catalan giants while also earning 27 caps for Spain.
With his contract set to expire in 2026, Barca could lose the technically gifted midfielder at a relatively cheap price. The player himself, however, reportedly wants to stay at Camp Nou and wants to fight for his place.
