Barcelona close to finalizing negotiations for new lever that would help them earn €200m: Reports

Barcelona are in talks to activate a new lever to address their financial situation, according to journalist Albert Masnou. The Catalans recently signed a deal with Nike which was expected to help them return to LaLiga's 1:1 rule.

However, the deal fell short of the requirements, forcing the Spanish giants to turn to contingency plans. Interestingly, the situation has put Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in limbo, with their registration in LaLiga set to expire in January.

Barcelona have now chalked up a plan to address the situation. They have decided to activate a level to sell the rights for a part of the new Spotify Camp Nou's VIP section in advance for 20 years. The Catalans believe such an arrangement could help bring in €200m, which could help them return to the 1:1 rule.

Interestingly, Real Madrid are among a multitude of clubs that have deployed this strategy in recent years. The decision has already proven to be a hit, with several parties already showing interest in securing a deal.

A suitor from Qatar is reportedly willing to pay the entire €200m. Talks are ongoing and it is believed that an agreement could be just around the corner.

The Catalans have already informed Goldman Sachs about their plans and have received the go-ahead. They have also received confirmation from LaLiga that there will be no registration issues once the deal is completed.

The Spanish giants are putting all their efforts into getting the entire process completed by January 9, including player registrations and renewals of Gavi and Pedri. Once completed, Barcelona will also have funds available for new signings, although they are not planning reinforcements right now.

When is Barcelona's next game?

Barcelona are preparing to travel to the Benito Villamarin on Saturday, December 7, to face Real Betis in LaLiga. Hansi Flick's team are leading the title race after 16 games, four points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid. Their opponents this weekend, meanwhile, are tenth in the league.

The German manager has been a huge hit since taking charge at Camp Nou this summer. The Catalans have won 12 and lost three in the league so far, but two of those defeats have come in the last four games.

However, the Spanish giants appear to have turned things around with a commanding 5-1 win over Mallorca in midweek. Barcelona have scored 48 goals in the league this season, the most in the Spanish top flight.
