Barcelona closing in on move for German defender, club hierarchy have held talks with player's agent: Reports
Barcelona are reportedly nearing an agreement with Germany international Jonathan Tah over a free transfer from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. The centre-back has emerged as a target for several of Europe's top sides as he is in the final months of his contract at the BayArena.
Tah was an ever-present for Bayer Leverkusen as they cantered to the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal without losing a game in the 2023-24 season. The defender's contract will expire once the season ends, and he's turned down an offer of a new contract from Bayer Leverkusen.
A report from journalist Carlos Montfort (via Reshad Rahman) has revealed that club director Deco has met with the defender's agent Pini Zahavi to speak about a potential deal. As per the report, the Germany international will be pleased to move to the Spanish giants after positive talks between both parties.
Barcelona are in the market for centre-back cover due to recurring injuries suffered by Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo, as well as the lack of depth in the position. The duo of Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen have failed to break into the plans of manager Hansi Flick this season, contributing to the need for cover.
Tah was close to a move to Bayern Munich in the summer before the transfer fell through before it could be completed. He has also been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea, both of whom are interested in signing him as a free agent. Barcelona will be able to offer Tah a pre-contract agreement once the January transfer window opens, which will stipulate that he joins them in the summer.
Barcelona keen on former LaLiga star - Reports
Barcelona are keen to make a move to sign former Real Betis forward Luiz Henrique in 2025, as per a report from Fichajes.net. The talented winger has found his best form in the colors of Botafogo in his native Brazil, having left Real Betis for the club earlier this year.
Henrique featured prominently for Botafogo as they won the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history and are closing in on the Brasileirao Serie A title. The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 51 appearances for the club this season, marking a memorable debut campaign.
With the inconsistency of Ferran Torres and injury problems of Ansu Fati, La Blaugrana are looking to sign a new winger in 2025. Henrique's LaLiga experience and quality have helped him emerge as a top target for Flick's side. He made 64 appearances for Real Betis, recording four goals and 10 assists.
