Barcelona consider launching loan move to sign 27-year-old Brazilian full-back: Reports

Barcelona are reportedly planning a loan move for Brazilian defender Caio Henrique in the upcoming January transfer window. The 27-year-old left-back is currently playing for AS Monaco and his contract with the Ligue 1 club is valid until the summer of 2027.

Journalist Andres Onrubia has claimed that Barcelona's sporting director Deco is tracking Caio Henrique and considering a move for the Atletico Madrid graduate to strengthen the Blaugrana's defense.

Barca's reported interest comes as they have a lack of options in the role, with only Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin recognized left-backs in the squad. The Catalan club were also linked with Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies but several fresh reports suggest that the Bundesliga giants are not ready to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Henrique, meanwhile, is reportedly looking for a move away from AS Monaco after falling down the pecking under manager Adi Hutter this season. Even though he established himself as a regular starter after joining Monaco in 2020, the Brazilian has started just eight of the side's 15 league games of the ongoing campaign. Overall, in over four years at the club, he has made 155 appearances, recording three goals and 34 assists.

According to Andres Onrubia, Barcelona are considering a loan move for Henrique with an option to buy next summer. However, despite the reported interest, there is a big question mark over whether they can afford the signing with their financial woes. They are reportedly yet to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the ongoing season.
