Barcelona handed boost as 20-year-old star set to sign long-term deal with the club - Reports
As per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Marc Casado is set to sign a new contract with Barcelona that will tie him down until 2028. Casado, 20, is currently the captain of Barca Athletic.
Romano reported that the youngster is seen as a key future player for La Blaugrana. He has often been tipped to become a long-term replacement for Sergi Roberto once the Barca captain leaves.
Casado plays as a defensive midfielder and has even made five appearances for Azulgrana's senior team. His performances for Barca Athletic have been impressive and he is seemingly set to be rewarded for those displays.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Casado penning a deal with Barcelona is only a matter of time. The youngster, though, still has an important game left for Barca's youth side.
Rafael Marquez's team will play Cordoba in the promotional play-off second leg. The first leg between the two teams ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Marc Casado has confirmed contract talks with Barcelona
Marc Casado has been recognized by Joan Laporta for his performances at the youth level. The youngster has already confirmed that he and Barcelona are on the same page regarding extending his contract.
Speaking about the negotiations with the La Liga giants, Casado told reporters earlier this month (via Barca Blaugranes):
"Both the club and I are on the same line, we are just talking about four things that are not important. We believe that the best thing for me and what both parties want is to continue wearing this shirt for a long time and I hope that is the case."
Barca's academies have constantly produced young talents who have become first-team mainstays. Some of them have gone on to become club legends as well. Casado is now the latest to head into the first team, as all signs suggest.
