Barcelona hold talks over contract renewals of 2 key first team superstars: Reports

Barcelona are currently looking to renew the contracts of Pedri and Gavi, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano (via Reshad Rahman). This could be seen as a clear indication that the club considers the pair to be long-term players for them.

Pedri is a creative midfielder and has grown through the ranks to be a regular starter for the club in recent times. In the 2024-25 campaign, the Spaniard has netted three goals and registered two assists in 17 appearances. By description, Pedri is a versatile midfielder who features primarily as a central midfielder. But he could also feature as an attacking midfielder when necessary.

A brief overview of his contract indicates that he's contracted at Barcelona until June 2026. An extension of his contract could be an indication that La Blaugrana's hierarchy are unwilling to do business with Pedri in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Gavi is an energetic midfielder who has an outstanding ability to stabilize the midfield. Gavi recently returned from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him on the sidelines for several months. However, he has recovered fully and has been able to register six appearances for La Blaugrana this season.

In a bid to bolster their attack, La Blaugrana are looking to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, as per GOAL (via Transfer News Live).

Kvaratskhelia is presently one of the most formidable young wingers in Europe. In the 2024-25 campaign, he has netted five goals and registered two assists in 14 games for Napoli.

Barcelona's interest in signing Kvaratskhelia could be seen as a strategic move as Raphinha has been attracting interest from several clubs. If Raphinha decides to leave, Kvaratskhelia could be his potential long-term replacement.

Kvaratskhelia is contracted at Napoli until June 2027. This is an indication that he's not a cheap option in the transfer market. The 23-year-old Georgian is currently valued at €80 million by Transfermarkt.
