Barcelona identify two Erling Haaland alternatives as Hansi Flick continues squad rebuild: Reports
Barcelona have identified Alexander Isak and Darwin Nunez as their preferred options if they fail to secure the services of Erling Haaland, according to a report by Tribal Football. Since joining the Blaugrana this summer, Hansi Flick has been carrying out a squad rebuild and now wants to sign a long term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona are the current LaLiga leaders with 24 points from nine games. But they have already started preparing for the next season.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland remains their preferred target for the No. 9 role. However, if they fail to sign him, which could be difficult given his importance in City's attack, they would go for either Isak or Nunez.
In 73 appearances for Newcastle United, Isak has netted 36 goals and registered six assists. As such, given his familiarity with LaLiga having previously featured for Real Sociedad, he could be a decent addition in attack for Barcelona.
On the other hand, Nunez has been struggling to reclaim his position as Liverpool's first-choice number nine under Arne Slot. The Uruguayan has seen his game time reduced in recent times.
For the Reds, Nunez has netted 34 goals and registered 18 assists in 103 appearances.
Can Barcelona win the UEFA Champions League title this season?
Barcelona last won the UEFA Champions League in the 2014-15 campaign. But as someone who played a pivotal role in Bayern Munich's run to the 2019-20 Champions League title, Flick can bring back the glory days at the Camp Nou.
Even if the Blaugrana have only secured three points out of a possible six in the Champions League this season, they remain one of the strong contenders.
However, with the new format in place, the Catalan giants will need a lot of things to go their way to win the continental title this term.
