Barcelona join race to sign Liverpool transfer target: Reports

Barcelona have allegedly joined the transfer race to rope in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, who has recently been linked with Liverpool.

Marmoush, 25, has popped up as one of the most in-form players in the Bundesliga since the start of the 2024-25 season. He has helped Dino Toppmoller's outfit launch a shock title push this campaign with his clinical performances of late.

The former VfL Wolfsburg man has found the back of the net 17 times in just 19 outings across all competitions for Frankfurt this campaign. He has also laid out 11 assists in 1507 minutes of first-team action for the Bundesliga club this season.

Now, according to Mirror, Barcelona sent scouts to witness the forward in Frankfurt's 2-1 UEFA Europa League victory against Danish outfit Midtjylland on November 28. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain had also sent their respective scouts.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also said to be big admirers of Marmoush, who is Mohamed Salah's international teammate. They could decide to enter a bidding war for the Egyptian star, who is allegedly valued at around £60 million by Frankfurt.

Should the Liverpool target secure a move to Barcelona in the future, he could prove to be a shrewd signing for them. The right-footed star would gradually replace Robert Lewandowski, who is currently in the twilight of his excellent career.

On the other hand, Marmoush could pop up as a starting striker for the Reds should he move to them next summer. With Diogo Jota deemed injury-prone and Darwin Nunez considered a flop by many, he could feature in a number nine role.

Barcelona target disappointed with Liverpool

According to Colombian radio station Antena 2, Liverpool superstar Luis Diaz is unhappy with his team's latest contract extension offer. He is keen to secure a more lucrative contract than the Merseyside outfit are currently willing to offer him.

Diaz, 27, has established himself as a key starter for Arne Slot's side since arriving from Porto in a potential £50 million move in January 2022. He has helped his club lift four trophies and has been a crucial piece of their ongoing title charge.

Due to his current situation, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are both keeping close tabs on the right-footed forward. The aforementioned pair could decide to test Liverpool's resolve with potential transfer offers ahead of the next season.

So far, the Barranquilla academy graduate has scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists in 117 appearances across all competitions for the Anfield outfit.
