Barcelona linked with a €40m move for 22-year-old Ligue 1 star in 2025: Reports

Barcelona have been linked with a move to sign LOSC Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier in the summer of 2025. The Blaugrana have been dealt an injury blow to number-one shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. While they have signed Wojciech Szczesny on a free transfer, the Catalan giants are looking for a long-term option.

Currently, Inaki Pena has taken the reins between the sticks under Hansi Flick's management. With Szczesny potentially set to continue the season in a backup role, La Liga toppers Barca will hope to continue their brilliant campaign. However, they will need to focus on the future of the goalkeeping position.

Inaki Pena remains a young, quality option for the Blaugrana. The club have had to rely on the 25-year-old so far, and he has not disappointed, keeping four clean sheets in six La Liga games. However, the club are said to be looking at Lille shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier.

According to a report from SPORT (via Football Espana), the French club will expect upwards of €40 million if they are to sell him next season. His contract at Lille runs until 2027, giving the club the advantage if Barca decide to negotiate. It is no surprise that the Catalan club are interested in Chevalier, who has kept five clean sheets in 10 Ligue 1 games this season.

Hansi Flick reveals what caused clash with Carlo Ancelotti during Barcelona's win over Real Madrid

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has spoken about his clash with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. During the Blaugrana's 4-0 win over Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26, Ancelotti was seen reacting towards the away bench, with Flick speaking to him on the touchline.

During his press conference after the game, Flick opened up about the altercation, telling journalists (via GOAL):

"I haven't seen it. I've spoken to him, but it's a normal situation. We celebrated the goal. We're adults enough to talk about them."

Ancelotti provided more insight, revealing his displeasure at how one of Barcelona's assistant coach had celebrated:

"I had an issue with the assistant, not with Flick. The assistant behaved in an ungentlemanly manner celebrating in front of our bench. I said that quite normally to Flick and he agreed."

Either way, Flick will be pleased about how his side have performed this season. With 11 matches played so far, Barca have won 10, scoring 37 goals. They sit at the top of the table with 30 points, six points ahead of Real Madrid.
