Barcelona make transfer decision on 22-year-old star amid January exit speculations: Reports
According to TEAMtalk, Barcelona will not part ways with Pau Victor in the January transfer window despite the 22-year-old's struggles. Victor was one of the only two signings Barcelona made this summer, signed permanently from Girona for a reported €2.7m fee after his loan stint at Barca Athletic.
Pau Victor impressed in the preseason as he demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess, scoring three goals in four matches. However, things haven’t gone according to plan since the season began as he hasn’t featured as often as he would have wanted.
The young centre-forward has mostly been used as a substitute under manager Hansi Flick. He has only started one match for Barcelona this season, and featured as a substitute in ten. In 11 games, he has played 174 minutes and scored just one goal.
Due to the lack of playing time, the 22-year-old was being tracked by clubs in Spain and across Europe, according to Spanish publication Sport. However, neither Barcelona nor Pau Victor plan to entertain offers this term.
The report further adds that Ansu Fati could be the one player leaving the club as he has struggled to make an impact this season.
Barcelona sporting director provides update on contract renewals for Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong
Barcelona sporting director Deco discussed the pending contract renewals of two first-team payers, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo. Both players' contracts expire in the summer of 2026.
Even though Araujo and De Jong have had injury issues, they remain important in Barcelona's sporting project. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Deco provided an update on the contractual situations of both players.
When asked if Araujo was willing to renew, he said:
"I think we are doing well and I imagine that Ronald wants to be part of what the next few years will be like for Barça."
He was then asked how optimistic he was, to which he responded:
"I don't want to single out the renewals because there are more players, it's a job that we're going to do day by day. We're working but for me the most important thing is that the players' ideas are in line with ours. We know what we want but it always depends on the players. If the players want it, things will work out."
On De Jong, he said:
"In the case of Frenkie it is a normal process. We have a player who has quality, who is of an important age, who can contribute quite a few things and within what we can do we are working on renewals."
