Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City set to lose out in race for Bundesliga star: ReportsĀ

Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly suffered a setback in their plans to sign Joshua Kimmich in 2025. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the German midfielder is confident of extending his stay with Bayern Munich.

Kimmich has entered the final year of his contract with the Bavarians and is yet to sign a new deal. His situation has attracted interest from multiple clubs across the continent.

The Catalans are long-term admirers of the 29-year-old and believe he could be the ideal candidate to replace Sergio Busquets at Camp Nou. The La Liga giants haven't had much success in their succession plans for the legendary Spaniard so far, and Kimmich is tailor-made for the job.

The German enjoyed great success with Hansi Flick during their time together at the Allianz Arena and the German manager is eyeing a reunion at Barcelona in 2025.

The Red Devils are also in the market for midfield reinforcements despite investing in Manuel Ugarte this summer. The Uruguayan was brought in from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to add more steel to the middle of the park.

However, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, the English giants have turned to Kimmich. The German can give Manchester United the control they desire in midfield although he is also wanted across town at the Etihad.

Joshua Kimmich also has admirers at Real Madrid, Arsenal and PSG but his suitors could be set for disappointment in 2025.

Bayern Munich are embarking on a fresh start under Vincent Kompany and the German midfielder has been indispensable under the Belgian manager so far. Kimmich has played every minute of every game this season and all signs indicate that he will be offered a new deal.

Can Joshua Kimmich improve Barcelona and Manchester United?

Kimmich is among the finest in the pivot role in the world right now and would walk into the midfield at Barcelona and Manchester United. The Catalans are sweating on the future of Frenkie de Jong and Kimmich could be an upgrade.

The German midfielder could also be a great mentor for Kobbie Mainoo at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are looking to get back to their best under INEOS, who have invested in younger talents this summer.

However, Manchester United could make an exception for Kimmich, who still has a fair bit of football left in him. Unfortunately for his suitors, it appears that Kimmich wants to stay at the Allianz Arena. The Red Devils, as well as Barcelona, would be better advised to turn their attention to alternate targets.
