Barcelona plotting surprise loan signing from Chelsea and Manchester United as Premier League giants face squad rebuilds: Reports

According to SPORT, Barcelona are plotting a loan signing from Chelsea or Manchester United as the Premier League giants look for squad rebuild this season. Barca's financial situation has prevented the club from making big-money signings. They have relied on making bargain signings, as well as loan moves, and bringing in players as free agents.

La Blaugrana are expected to have 1:1 salary rules this season. However, that's not written on stone and the club are yet to receive La Liga's salary margin declaration.

Hence, Barcelona could fall back to making loan signings. They are reportedly contemplating doing so from either Manchester United or Chelsea in the 2024-25 season.

Both Premier League clubs are expected to go through a squad rebuild this summer. Both clubs have been spending well in the transfer market recently to bolster their ranks.

There are a few good players on both clubs' ranks who haven't been able to adapt to their current structure. Hence, some of them could be on the move and Barca are looking to pounce on that to make a loan signing.

Manchester United's offer to sign Barcelona star rejected: Reports

As per Mirror, Manchester United made an offer to sign Barcelona's Fermin Lopez. The Catalan club, however, have reportedly rejected the approach.

Lopez, 21, plays as a central midfielder and he is in Spain's squad for Euro 2024. He has become one of the breakout stars from La Blaugrana's La Masia academy in recent seasons.

Lopez enjoyed a good season with Barca's senior team, scoring 11 goals in 42 appearances across competitions. United reportedly want Lopez to partner with young Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park.

Barca, however, have rejected the approach as per reports. The youngster is contracted with the Catalan club until the end of the 2026-27 season. As per Transfermarkt, he has an estimated market value of €30 million.
