Barcelona and PSG among clubs keeping tabs on Serie A superstar as Italian club refuse to meet star's demands: Reports
Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's situation at Napoli, according to Sky Italia. The Georgian forward's contract with the Serie A side expires in 2027 and the two parties recently met to discuss a new long-term deal.
Napoli reportedly offered Kvaratskhelia a renewal proposal worth €6 million per year. However, it was lower than the player's expectations, with the 23-year-old holding out for €8m in annual wages.
However, Kvaratskhelia is willing to accept the reduced pay if the club agree to keep his release clause lower than €100m. The situation has stalled the talks, forcing clubs across Europe to take note.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are long-term admirers of the Georgian and could make a move for him in 2025. However, La Repubblica recently reported that Barcelona are preparing a €80m offer for the player.
The Catalans have enjoyed a steady rise under Hansi Flick, who took charge at Camp Nou this summer. The German manager has already taken his team to the top of the LaLiga table.
However, the Spanish giants are also planning for the future. Barcelona want to hand Flick a squad capable enough to dominate Europe in the coming years.
Kvaratskhelia has also already shown that he could be an asset for any team. The Georgian has registered five goals and two assists from 14 games under Antonio Conte this season. Napoli are now at the top of the Serie A table after 12 games, a point ahead of second-placed Atalanta.
Who is Barcelona's top scorer this season?
Barcelona have registered 40 goals in 13 appearances in LaLiga this season and have conceded just 12. They have found the back of the net 55 times in 17 games across competitions this campaign.
The Catalans have failed to find the back of the net in just one game so far, in the 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad on Sunday, November 10. Hansi Flick has unleashed a fiery front three of Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal, who have blown away the opposition.
The Polish striker has rediscovered his old form under the German manager. Lewandowski has scored 19 goals in 17 games so far, while also setting up two. He is Barcelona's top scorer this season.
Raphinha is second on the list, with 12 goals and 10 assists from 17 games. Yamal, who is currently out injured, has chipped in with six goals and eight assists from 16 games.
