Barcelona pushing ahead to sign Real Madrid target - Reports
Barcelona are leading Real Madrid in the race to sign David Cordon, according to Fichajes. The 16-year-old left-back has caught the eye with Spanish side Recreativo de Huelva, who play in the Primera Federacion.
Davinchi, as he is also known, has already taken the league by storm, with his attacking adventure and defensive capability earning him admirers across the country. The Spaniard has one goal and one assist from six games across competitions this season.
His efforts have already turned heads at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid are always on the lookout for the next big talent of the land and believe they have unearthed a gem in Davinchi.
Los Blancos are looking for a new left-back at the moment, with Alphonso Davies reportedly their preferred target for the job. While the Canadian could hit the ground running at the Santiago Bernabeu, Davinchi could be one for the future.
Real Madrid have reportedly begun negotiations to sign the teenager but will face competition from Barcelona for the 16-year-old. The Catalans' academy, La Masia, has a fearsome reputation but the club also have their eye out for emerging talents.
Barcelona have taken the lead in the race for Davinchi at the moment. The Spaniard is under contract with Recreativo de Huelva until 2027, so they are under no pressure to let him go. However, a deal is likely to materialise for the right price.
Can Barcelona pip Real Madrid to the La Liga title this season?
When Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick as Xavi's replacement this summer, they expected the German manager to help them get back to their heydays. The Catalans were coming off a difficult campaign and had just watched Real Madrid win the league as well as the Champions League.
Unfortunately, the Camp Nou hierarchy failed to hand Flick his priority targets over the summer, with only Dani Olmo arriving from RB Leipzig. Los Blancos, meanwhile, had roped in Kylian Mbappe and the signs were ominous for Blaugrana fans.
However, Flick has managed to get his team firing on all cylinders so far. Barcelona are playing fluid, attacking football and have won eight of their ten games this season.
They are leading the La Liga table at the moment, tied on points with Real Madrid but with a game in hand. The Catalans' decision to put their trust in Flick already looks vindicated. However, the German manager must follow up his initial good work with a trophy by the end of the campaign.
