Barcelona ready to include Ferran Torres in swap deal to sign 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund star: Reports
Barcelona are planning a swap deal for attacker Karim Adeyemi, which could see Ferran Torres going to Borussia Dortmund, according to Fichajes. The Spanish forward has dropped down the pecking order this season under Hansi Flick.
The Catalans have one of the most potent attacks in the world at the moment. The trio of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal has powered the LaLiga giants to the top of the league.
The Polish striker has scored 19 times and set up two more from 16 games across competitions. Raphinha, meanwhile, has 12 goals and 10 assists from the same number of games. Yamal has continued his spectacular rise as well, amassing six goals and eight assists from 16 games.
Despite the wealth of attacking riches at their disposal, Barcelona remain keen to improve their options. The Catalans have identified Adeyemi as a candidate for the job.
The German forward has five goals and five assists from eight games across competitions this season for Borussia Dortmund. He already has admirers across the continent, including the LaLiga giants.
Barcelona remain in the market for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, they want a young, dynamic player who can carry out various roles in the final third.
Adeyemi is reportedly valued at €50m, but the Catalans are hoping to sweeten the deal by including Ferran Torres in their offer. However, they could face competition from Liverpool for the 22-year-old.
How many goals have Barcelona scored this season?
Barcelona have scored 55 goals in their first 16 games across competitions this season, which is the most in their history. The previous record was 54 goals, achieved by Ferdinand Daucik's team in the 1950/51 campaign.
On Wednesday, November 6, the Catalans secured a 5-2 win over Crvena zvezda in the Champions League. It was the eighth time this season that Hansi Flick's team scored four goals or more.
Interestingly, Barcelona also secured a 4-0 win over Real Madrid in El Clasico last month at the Santiago Bernabeu. Flick has transformed the team's fortunes and has them firing on all cylinders so far this season.
Despite failing to secure the majority of his top targets this summer, the German has managed to get the best out of the options at his disposal. His decision to switch Raphinha to the right flank has been a masterstroke.
Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski has found a new lease of life under the former Bayern Munich manager. Flick has also put trust in the club's young talents, helping Lamine Yamal flourish as well.
