Barcelona ready to launch move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate with €90 million price-tag: Reports
Barcelona will attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal teammate Rafael Leao this summer, according to journalist Fernando Polo (via @BarcaTimes). Leao is reportedly keen on the move and would cost the Blaugrana around €90 million.
Other than Dani Olmo, Barca are yet to make a big signing amid their financial woes. They were keen on signing Nico Williams, who impressed for Spain during Euro 2024. But the Spaniard will reportedly remain at Athletic Bilbao this summer.
However, one alternative on the market for Barcelona could be AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. The 25-year-old has been impressive for the Rossoneri over the past five seasons, garnering 58 goals and 50 assists in 211 appearances across competitions. He was also instrumental in helping Milan win the 2021-22 Serie A title.
Leao is currently contracted to AC Milan until the summer of 2028. But the Blaugrana reportedly want to make a big move this summer which could pave the way for the transfer to happen. While AC Milan want €90 million, they would also reportedly be open for a player plus cash deal.
Leao has played 23 matches with Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal but the pair don't have a joint goal contribution.
Barcelona star linked with shock move to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr: Reports
According to Mundo Deportivo (via Yahoo Sports), Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has been offered to Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr. Barca are in dire need of funds to facilitate their big summer transfers, and Gundogan's sale would be instrumental in freeing up their wage bill.
The La Liga giants roped in Gundogan from Manchester City on a free transfer last summer. The 33-year-old signed a two-year deal at the club and is reportedly earning an annual salary of €20 million. The German's sale would allow the Blaugrana to save €14 million in the club’s fair play budget.
Hansi Flick excluded Gundogan from his matchday squad to face Valencia this weekend, much to the shock of fans. The former Germany international has now been linked with an exit, with Manchester City also tipped as a possible destination.
Mundo Deportivo also stated:
"Barça have offered Gündogan to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in an attempt to get some money for the transfer of the German international."
Barcelona will be desperate to sell Gundogan to avoid a contract termination. Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr would also be an ideal destination as the Knights of Najd are yet to make a top European signing this summer to bolster their squad.
