Barcelona have rejected multiple approaches from rivals for teenage star, club unwilling to part ways with player - Reports

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Barcelona have rejected approaches from Deportivo Alaves and Girona for defensive starlet Mikayil Faye.

The 19-year-old joined Barca from Croatian club NK Kustosija for a reported €1.5 million last summer. He has since impressed with his performances for Barca's youth sides and is an important player for Rafael Marquez's Barca Atletic.

Faye also featured for the team in the pre-season. Blessed with athleticism, physicality, and pace, he is touted to be an exciting prospect. Despite not featuring for Barca's senior team, he is already attracting interest from several clubs.

Apart from Spanish clubs, the likes of Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest in the player. As per Aouna, Girona and Alaves had bids rejected for Faye.

While Alaves wanted a loan deal, Girona were keen on completing a loan deal with the option to buy. Barcelona, though, reportedly don't consider Faye for sale. They won't let the highly-touted Senegalese prospect leave unless there's a significant fee on the table.

Barcelona sporting director Deco outlines the club's objectives

In the 2022-23 season, Xavi's first full term as the manager, Barcelona won two trophies, the Supercopa de Espana and the La Liga. They are once again in the final of the Supercup this season and will take on Real Madrid on Sunday, January 14.

Barca's sporting director Deco has now said that La Blaugrana are keen on competing for every trophy they are participating in this season. The Portuguese said (via Barca Universal):

“In the end it’s a title we want to win and we have to face it like this. We are fighting for all the titles we can play for. We want to win the league, we want to go as far as possible and if possible win the Champions League, we have the Copa del Rey."

He added:

“The good thing is to be in all of them and in the end it is to be able to be in the final. We have to think about the final and what’s in the future we’ll see, game by game.”

Barcelona are currently fourth in La Liga with 41 points from 19 matches, trailing league leaders Real Madrid and second-placed Girona by seven points. They are in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey and will play Unionistas.

Barca have also reached the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League and are set for a scintillating clash against reigning Italian champions Napoli.
