Barcelona rejected offers from Manchester United and Tottenham for 21-year-old star - Reports
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez in the summer. However, any approach was instantly rejected by the Spanish giants.
Lopez came through Barca's famed La Masia academy and has made 45 senior appearances for them, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist. He had an exceptional summer with his national side. He made one appearance in Spain's UEFA Euro 2024 triumph, securing the medal as they won the trophy.
Lopez then was the star man for Spain's Olympics 2024 side that won the gold medal. He scored six goals, including a brace in the final, and provided two assists in six games in the tournament. His performances saw many teams take interest in signing him.
As per The Daily Briefing (via Barca Universal), Manchester United and Tottenham were interested in signing Lopez. However, Barcelona were unwilling to let the midfielder go and rejected any approach. The youngster himself doesn't want to leave the Spanish giants either.
The 21-year-old has made three appearances this season so far for Barcelona, all of them coming off the bench. However, he suffered a muscle injury and could be out of action for around a month. As per the aforementioned report, the Blaugrana are looking to extend Lopez's contract, which currently expires in 2027.
