Barcelona set to battle rivals Real Madrid for 26-year-old Premier League star: ReportsĀ
Barcelona are reportedly prepared to battle Real Madrid for the signature Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. As reported by Caught Offside via Bernabeu Digital, the Blaugrana are looking to make a statement by hijacking their rivals' top target.
Alexander-Arnold's future has been up the air in recent months with his current deal at Anfield expiring next summer. Liverpool are believed to be desperate to tie the him on a new deal. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for the England international for a while now. They see the 26-year-old as the successor to Dani Carvajal at right-back.
However, Barcelona have now also entered the fray as they see Alexander-Arnold as an upgrade over Jules Kounde. The Catalan giants' president Joan Laporta is believed to be looking to get one over their rivals with the Englishman's signature.
Alexander-Arnold has come through Liverpool's youth ranks and made his debut for the Reds in 2016. He has since been a key player for the Merseyside giants and has been pivotal in their success. The Real Madrid and Barcelona target is one of the most creative footballers on the planet even though he plays at right-back. In 327 appearances for the Merseysiders, he has produced 19 goals and 85 assists helping the club win eight trophies.
Barcelona preparing a move for Real Madrid-linked full-back: Reports
Barcelona are reportedly preparing a move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies who has also been linked with Real Madrid. The bombarding left-back's current deal at the Allianz Arena expires next summer meaning he could be available on a free transfer.
Davies has been strongly linked with Real Madrid for several months now but Barcelona are now looking to hijack the move. However, Bayern Munich are still trying everything in their powers to convince the 24-year-old to sign a new contract.
Davies is believed to be keen on getting a new deal on significantly higher wages than how much he earns now. Bayern Munich, however, are yet to give up on their hopes of retaining the marauding full-back.
He has been a key player for Bayern Munich since joining the German giants in 2018 from Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He has made 215 appearances for the Bundesliga giants so far scoring 11 times while assisting 34 times. He has won 13 trophies during his time at the Allianz Arena so far.
