Barcelona submit official offer to complete first signing of Hansi Flick era: Reports
According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona have submitted an official offer to sign Hull City winger Jaden Philogene. The Catalan club are reportedly contemplating a loan move with an obligation to buy in 2025.
Philogne, an Aston Villa academy product, made 32 appearances for Hull during the 2023-24 season, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. He is contracted with Hull until the end of the 2025-26 season and has an estimated market value of €15 million.
As per Plettenberg, La Blaugrana are ready to spend around €20-25 million in 2025 to sign Philogne. They have already submitted a bid and are looking to complete the first signing of the Hansi Flick era.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with wingers in the summer. Players like Nico Williams and others are on their radar. However, signing Williams would command a much higher fee.
Given the club's current financial situation, that might not be a feasible option for Barca. They have resorted to loan signings and free agents in recent transfer windows. Hence, Philogne fits the bill in that regard and could be a much more financially viable option.
Barcelona board divided over signing Nico Williams: Reports
As per SPORT, Barcelona's board are divided over signing Nico Williams. Williams, one of the club's top targets, is a pacey winger. He has been showcasing his immense quality during the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024.
However, the player has a release clause of €58 million in his deal with Bilbao, which was inserted during his contract renewal. Williams is very loyal to his current club Athletic Bilbao as well.
Hence, potential negotiations could be very difficult for Barca to conclude and they might have to pay the release clause sum to sign Williams. The situation has left Barca board divided and they are exploring other potential options like Philogne.
