Barcelona Transfer News Roundup: Catalans urged to sign German ace, club not eyeing Mohamed Salah, and more - November 30, 2024
Barcelona are set to welcome Las Palmas at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Saturday (November 30) in LaLiga. The Catalans are leading the title race after 14 games with 34 points, but Real Madrid are four points behind on second with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, a former player has urged the Blaugrana to sign a German midfielder. Elsewhere, the Spanish giants are not working on a move to sign Mohamed Salah.
On that note, let's look at the major Barcelona transfer stories from November 30, 2024.
Barcelona urged to sign Angelo Stiller
German legend Lothar Matthaus has urged Barcelona to secure the services of Angelo Stiller. The German midfielder has been a first-team regular for VfB Stuttgart of late and his efforts have caught the eye of clubs across Europe.
Stiller has registered one goal and two assists from 19 games across competitions this season for the Bundesliga side. The Catalans are yet to sign a proper replacement for Sergio Busquets and the 23-year-old could be a fine fit for the job.
Speaking recently, as cited by SPORT, Matthaus insisted that Stiller would fit in well at Camp Nou.
“Stiller would be good for Barça because of his style of play. I trust him and if Barcelona were to sell, his signing would be possible and sensible,” Matthaus said.
The German midfielder's contract with VfB Stuttgart runs until 2027.
Catalans not eyeing Mohamed Salah
Barcelona are not eyeing a move for Mohamed Salah, according to Fichajes.net. The Egyptian forward's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of this season and he has yet to sign an extension.
The Catalans have invested heavily in the free-agent market in recent times and have found success with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Andreas Christensen, and others. They are already looking out for similar deals in 2025.
Mohamed Salah recently said he has yet to receive a renewal offer, so he could be available for free next summer. However, the LaLiga giants are not considering a move owing to the player's massive wages.
The 32-year-old apparently earns €25m per year with the Reds, which makes him out of bounds of the Blaugrana. The Middle East could be Salah's most probable destination as they would be able to afford him.
Barcelona ready to offload three players
Barcelona are ready to offload Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres in 2025, according to Fichajes.net. The Catalans are likely to turn to player sales to address their financial issues in 2025 and are planning to cash in on the trio.
De Jong is yet to agree an extension despite being offered a new deal. Recent reports have suggested that the club have run out of patience with the Dutchman and have retracted their renewal offer. His contract is set to expire in 2026.
Meanwhile, Ansu Fati's injury issues have shown no sign of ending and he is no longer part of Hansi Flick's plans. The Spaniard has registered just seven appearances across competitions this season, only one of which has been a start.
Elsewhere, Ferran Torres is also surplus to requirements at Camp Nou. With Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in inspired form this season, Torres will be allowed to leave as well.
