Barcelona Transfer News Roundup: Catalans want Premier League star, club eyeing Mykhailo Mudryk, and more - December 3, 2024
Barcelona will travel to the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Tuesday, December 3, to face Mallorca in LaLiga. Hansi Flick's team arrive at the game on a three-game winless run in the league and desperately need a win.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are considering a move for a Swedish striker who plays in the Premier League. Elsewhere, the Spanish giants are interested in Mykhailo Mudryk.
On that note, let's look at the major Barcelona transfer stories from December 3, 2024.
Barcelona want Alexander Isak
Barcelona have set their sights on Alexander Isak, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Swedish striker has been in fine form of late for Newcastle United and has scored five goals from 13 games this season.
Isak finished with 25 goals from 40 games across competitions in the previous campaign and has admirers at Arsenal as well. The Gunners are believed to be leading the race for the 25-year-old at the moment.
The Catalans also remain in the race as they look for Robert Lewandowski's potential successor. The plan is to bring in a new face in the next two years, although the Pole has shown no signs of slowing down right now.
Lewandowski has registered 22 goals from 20 games this season, but will turn 37 next August. The LaLiga giants plan to rope in Isak to fill his boots at Camp Nou next summer.
The Swede is also eager to take the next step in his career at the end of this season and could ignite a bidding war for his services in 2025. Barcelona also have their eyes on Sporting hitman Viktor Gyokeres for the job, but he is wanted by Arsenal too.
Catalans eyeing Mykhailo Mudryk
Barcelona have entered the race for Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to Caught Offside. The Ukrainian forward joined Chelsea in January 2023 on a reported £88.5m move, but has been a disappointment so far.
Mudryk has registered just 10 goals and nine assists from 73 games for the Blues so far. While he has displayed signs of revival this season, the London giants have apparently run out of patience with the 23-year-old.
Chelsea are ready to let Mudryk leave on loan in January and the Catalans are interested. However, they will face competition from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace for the Ukrainian.
Andreas Christensen wanted by Serie A trio
Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan are eyeing a move for Andreas Christensen in 2025, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Danish defender is currently out with an injury but is expected to be back at the turn of the year.
Christensen arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2022 as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Chelsea. He has since registered 75 appearances for the Catalans.
However, with a plethora of defensive options available to Hansi Flick, the 28-year-old is no longer a guaranteed starter at Camp Nou. Christensen's contract runs until 2026 but the Spanish giants are apparently willing to let him go in 2025.
His departure could help Barcelona deal with their financial situation. Should the player decide to leave, he won't be short of suitors, with Premier League clubs apparently eyeing him as well.
