Barcelona will try to sign Real Madrid transfer target who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season: Reports
Barcelona are reportedly set to compete with Real Madrid to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. The Canada international will be available for free once his contract runs out in the summer of 2025.
However, it is reported by SPORT that the Bavarian club are still trying to work a way to extend the left-back's contract at the Allianz Arena (via Barca Universal). It is said that Bayern Munich will look to finalize a deal within the next three weeks.
It was reported that Davies' salary demands were too high for his current employers, but the player has now seemingly decided to compromise on his wishes. If he is to leave Munich, the full-back will want to compete for major honors at his next club.
This puts the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in pole position to secure his services. At the moment, the Catalan side are top of the La Liga standings, a point clear of second-placed Los Blancos, who have a game in hand.
Additionally, Hansi Flick and Co. are third in the UEFA Champions League table, only three points short of leaders Liverpool. Carlo Ancelotti's side have struggled in Europe this year and currently find themselves 24th. However, they did manage to win this competition and La Liga last year.
This report further says that the Blaugrana's next project will centre around signing full-backs. However, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona have the financial power to bring Davies to Camp Nou.
The Canadian has made 213 appearances across competitions for Bayern Munich, bagging 11 goals and 34 assists.
Barcelona and Real Madrid monitoring Mason Greenwood's performances - Reports
Barcelona and Real Madrid could be set to battle it out for the signature of Marseille attacker Mason Greenwood. This is according to TBR Football, who say that the aforementioned Spanish giants have been impressed with the 23-year-old's start to life in France.
So far, Greenwood has made 13 appearances across competitions for his French employers, bagging nine goals and two assists. He only joined the club in the summer of 2024 from Manchester United for a reported fee of £26.6 million.
The former Getafe man can play as a number nine or operate wide. Barcelona could see Greenwood as the perfect long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Meanwhile, Real Madrid may wish to push Kylian Mbappe out wide and bring in a player to occupy the central area in attack.
