Bayern Munich set to make move for Liverpool and Barcelona target after agreeing Michael Olise deal - Reports

Bayern Munich are reportedly set to make a move for Liverpool and Barcelona target Xavi Simons after agreeing a deal to sign Michael Olise. As reported by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bavarian giants are looking to bolster their attack with the signing of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) attacker.

Simons spent the last season on loan at RB Leipzig from PSG and thoroughly impressed for the Bundesliga side. Simons is capable of playing on either flank as well as a No. 10 and boasts exceptional technique and creativity.

The Dutchman scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists for Leipzig in 43 appearances across competitions, catching the eye of European elites. Liverpool and Barcelona have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old while Bayern Munich are also keen, as per Plettenberg.

Bayern endured a difficult season last time out, going trophyless for the first time since 2011-12. The Bundesliga giants were heavily reliant on Harry Kane while most of their creative players struggled for consistency.

The Bavarians are looking to add more creative threat to their ranks and have already agreed a deal to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. Simons could prove to be another excellent addition with the quality he offers.

Simons was formerly on the books of Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven and is highly regarded at PSG. According to Plettenberg, a deal will be complicated given the number of teams involved in negotiations.

Gary Lineker slams Bayern Munich star for his performance against Denmark in Euro 2024

Former England striker Gary Lineker has claimed that Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane needs to up his game. The 30-year-old scored the only goal for the Three Lions in their 1-1 draw with Denmark in Euro 2024 but was not at his best.

Lineker claimed that Kane needs to improve his movement if England are to do well in the Euros.

The BBC pundit was quoted as saying by Goal:

"As a striker, you have two jobs, score goals, which Harry Kane has been good at all his career, and make space. He needs his manager to come to him and ask a little bit more from him. I would have expected that if I'd put in that kind of performance. Against a back three, he has to stretch the play, run one way and then come in short so you don't have to come too far to receive it. He needs to make more space for the midfield players behind him to create chances."
"In all honesty, Harry Kane needs to do a lot better. His movement was minimal. He didn't look to go behind and he doesn't often, but even when he comes short he's drifting very lethargically, he's plodding short and that's not going to help," Linekar added.

Kane has been exceptional for England and is currently the all-time top scorer for the Three Lions. He has found the back of the net 64 times for his country in 93 appearances.

The England skipper is on the back of an exceptional season for Bayern Munich having scored 44 goals and provided 12 assists in 45 appearances across competitions.
