Brazil legend Zico robbed while in a taxi ahead of 2024 Paris Olympics - Reports
According to Le Parisien reports, Brazil legend Zico was robbed ahead of the Paris Olympics. Zico reportedly lost items worth £420,000 while being in a taxi ahead of the Olympics in Paris.
Zico is in Paris to represent the Brazilian contingency. However, a man reportedly approached the taxi driver and distracted him while another man snatched Zico's items. Among the stolen items were a Rolex, a golden necklace, $2000 worth of cash, and another pile of €2000 cash.
Zico, one of the most notable legends in the history of Brazilian football, has reportedly filed a complaint at the prosecutor's office in Paris. Investigations regarding the incidents have already started.
The incident is certainly a massive blow for Zico, who could now find it hard to enjoy the Paris Olympics 2024 in peace.
Zico's career in football
Zico is one of the biggest legends in Brazil's illustrious history. He played for clubs like Udinese, Kashima Antlers, and Flamengo during his career. Zico was a technical attacking midfielder, who also boasted exceptional ability from free-kick situations.
He scored 48 goals and provided 21 assists in 71 appearances for Brazil, recording a goal-contribution ratio of almost one per game. Zico won the Brazilian League four times and the Japanese League once, as well as the Copa Libertadores once.
Zico also had a notable managerial career, taking charge of teams like Olympiacos, Japan's national team, Kashima Antlers, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce, FC Goa, and more.
During his playing career, Zico was often compared to Pele for his skills and was even given the moniker 'White Pele' as a result. The former FC Goa coach, though, expressed displeasure on the matter once, telling the Times of India that he preferred the name Zico.
However, his quality as a player could never be questioned as the late great Pele himself once endorsed Zico as the player who was the closest to his class.
