Bundesliga club enter race to sign Manchester United star Victor Lindelof: Reports
Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly interested in luring centre-back Victor Lindelof away from Manchester United this summer.
Lindelof, who joined the Red Devils from Benfica in a deal worth up to £40 million in the summer of 2017, has recently dropped down in his club's pecking order. As a result, he has popped up as a potential sale.
Now, according to German website Frankfurter Rundschau, Frankfurt are keen to rope in Lindelof as they are on the hunt for a new centre-back. They are likely to face competition from clubs in Spain and Italy.
Meanwhile, Lindelof has a deal until next June at the Old Trafford side. The defender is said to be valued between £10 million and £15 million.
Should the 30-year-old Sweden international move to Frankfurt soon, he could prove to be a stellar signing for them. He would pop up as a regular starter following Willian Pacho's move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Overall, Lindelof has contributed four goals and seven assists in 259 matches for Manchester United, helping them win two trophies so far.
Chris Sutton offers prediction for upcoming Manchester United-Fulham league contest
In his column for BBC, ex-Celtic attacker Chris Sutton predicted a 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Fulham this Friday. He wrote:
"I really don't know what to expect. They won the FA Cup final, but they finished eighth in the Premier League [last season] and their manager Erik ten Hag will be under pressure from the off. I remember their start to last season when they beat [Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0] in their first game but were very unconvincing, and this time, performances are really important for Ten Hag, as well as results."
Sharing his thoughts on the west London outfit, Sutton continued:
"Fulham sold Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich in the summer, and the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Willian and Tim Ream have all left too. They had a pretty decent season last time out and, although their results did drop off in the last couple of months of the campaign, they won at Old Trafford in February. I can see them getting something this time, too."
Manchester United, who lost 2-1 in the league at home to Fulham last season, have won 15 and lost just one of their past 18 games against the Cottagers. They earned 13 more points than Fulham last season.
Last Saturday, Manchester United lost the FA Community Shield 7-6 on penalties to Manchester City after a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
