Bundesliga star offers himself to Real Madrid; 23-year-old desperate to complete transfer to Santiago Bernabeu: Reports
Jeremie Frimpong, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, has reportedly offered himself to Real Madrid in a desperate bid. According to reports from El Nacional, the impressive attacking full-back is seriously interested in a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
His proposal has reportedly made its way to club president Florentino Perez. It is worth noting that Los Blancos will be able to afford a move for Frimpong if they do decide on it. Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly set his starting price at €40 million, which is well within Madrid's abilities.
Jeremie Frimpong will certainly be a quality addition to Real Madrid, based on his impressive resume. Last season, he was a very vital part of a squad that went through the domestic season unbeaten, winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. They also reached the final of the Europa League, where they lost to Atalanta.
The Dutchman also enjoyed a truly remarkable season on a personal level, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 47 appearances across competitions. While Florentino Perez will be pleased about the full-back joining Los Blancos, the report has revealed that head coach Carlo Ancelotti is not in favor.
The Italian manager, whose voice is listened to in the Bernabeu boardroom, does not see the club's right-back position as requiring further depth. He has deployed Dani Carvajal in the role to great effect, winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season.
Carvajal also helped Spain win Euro 2024, showing he still has what it takes to impact games at the highest level.
Carlo Ancelotti would reportedly rather use the funds allocated for Jeremie Frimpong to make more urgent signings. However, this does not mean Real Madrid could not still go for the Dutch full-back, as Carvajal has struggled with injury problems.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reveals what he told new superstar signing
While Jeremie Frimpong is still hoping for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, this has already happened for Kylian Mbappe has already made the move to the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos have chased after the forward for the better part of the last half-decade, eventually getting him on a free transfer this summer. The Frenchman was unveiled in front of a packed stadium, filled with fans itching for a first look at their most exciting player since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
Carlo Ancelotti revealed he spoke with Mbappe afterwards and said (via Daily Post):
“Two things: First, I gave him a warm welcome, because the reception from Real Madrid and the fans was exceptional. Second, I told him to rest, to go on vacation because it’s a very long season for players.”
Kylian Mbappe will be hoping he can meet - and potentially surpass - expectations following his mega-move to Real Madrid.
