Chelsea agree £30m deal to sign 25-year-old star from promoted Premier League side: Fabrizio Romano
Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Blues are believed to have agreed on a deal with the Foxes for the signature of the Englishman.
Drewsbury-Hall has been linked with the west London club over the last couple of days, with fresh reports suggesting that the Blues were in constant talks with Leicester for the player.
Chelsea are expected to pay a transfer fee in the region of £30 million for the 25-year-old left-footed midfielder, as per Romano. It is also believed that he is being offered a six-year contract which will be valid until 2030.
A move to Chelsea will see Drewsbury-Hall join a now-growing list of players who have joined the Blues from Leicester, including Ngolo Kante, Danny Drinkwater, and Wesley Fofana.
He would also reunite with his former manager, Enzo Maresca, whom he played under during the 2023-24 football campaign in the Championship. Reports suggest that the player is expected to have his medicals with the Blues on Sunday, June 30.
Chelsea transfer target hails head coach Enzo Maresca as an "unbelievable manager"
Amid reports linking him with a possible reunion with Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, English midfielder Drewsbury-Hall seems to hold the Italian tactician in high esteem.
The pair worked together at Leicester City last season, and it wouldn't be out of place to say that Drewsbury-Hall enjoyed his best-ever individual campaign under the Italian.
Drewsbury-Hall made a combined total of 49 appearances under Maresca at Leicester City last season, scoring 12 goals and registering 15 assists across all competitions. Speaking during a recent interview with BBC the midfielder labelled the Chelsea head as an "unbelievable manager." He said:
"Enzo was an unbelievable manager. I genuinely see him becoming a top manager, so it wasn’t a surprise to see he was in demand. It is weird having to change a manager after being so successful, but that’s football."
