Chelsea among clubs keeping tabs on €100m rated player from Bundesliga giants – Reports
Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs that are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old Englishman, who primarily plays off the left-wing, has attracted the interest of multiple European heavyweights with his bright displays for Dortmund.
Chelsea have signed some of the best young talents from around the world since the takeover by Clearlake Capital in 2022.
According to German outlet Bild, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Jamie Gittens, as scouts from both clubs have regularly attended Borussia Dortmund matches. Apart from the Blues and Spurs, Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the player.
While Jamie Gittens’ current market value is €35 million as per Transfermarkt, Borussia Dortmund are said to value the player at around €100 million. It remains to be seen if Gittens' suitors will be willing to splash the cash to sign him.
The Englishman's contract with BVB extends until the summer of 2028, which will give the Bundesliga giants the upper hand in any negotiations.
Although he isn't a nailed-on starter for Dortmund, the 20-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent this season. He has scored five goals and recorded three assists in 10 appearances for BVB across competitions.
Gittens scored his last goal for the club against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, October 22, as they fell to a 5-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Shakhtar Donetsk director says Chelsea don't know how to use Mykhailo Mudryk
Shakhtar Donetsk, general director Sergiy Palkin, has stated that Chelsea don't know how to get the best out of Mykhailo Mudryk. The Blues signed Mudryk in 2023, but the Ukrainian winger is yet to make his mark at the West London club. Speaking to GOAL, Palkin said:
“You don't need a Ferrari if you don't know how to drive it. A normal car will do. If you buy a Ferrari, you should think about how to handle it. That's my opinion on Mudryk at Chelsea.”
He added:
“I am sure that he will show his qualities when he gets the chance. He is an absolute difference maker, which can also be seen in his appearances for the Ukrainian national team. There are very few players in this category.”
Mudryk has scored seven goals and provided seven assists for the Blues in 66 matches across competitions. In 44 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk before his move to England, the Ukrainian winger scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists.
