Chelsea include 25% sell-on clause as 20-year-old star leaves to join Premier League rivals: Reports

Chelsea have reportedly included a sizeable sell-on clause in their deal with newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchinson's sale ahead of the next season.

Hutchinson, who joined the Blues' youth ranks from Arsenal in 2022, relished a fine season on loan at Ipswich in the 2023-24 campaign. He helped them finish second in the EFL Championship table with 96 points.

A left-footed technical operator adept at operating in multiple positions, Hutchinson bagged 11 goals in 50 total games for Ipswich last campaign. The 20-year-old also registered six assists in just 25 overall starts.

Now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Hutchinson is set to complete a potential £22.5 million move to Ipswich soon. The Blues have decided to include a sell-on clause of around 25% in the deal.

Hutchinson, whose current Blues contract is set to expire in June 2026, has made two appearances across competitions for Chelsea so far. He featured once in the Premier League before making a cameo in a FA Cup third-round clash during the 2022-23 campaign.

Chelsea unlikely to launch move to snap up Premier League striker, suggests journalist

In his Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Chelsea deem Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak as an expensive target this summer. He wrote:

"From what I'm told, Chelsea are 100% aware of the situation with the Swedish striker, he is considered absolutely too expensive. We already know that they felt Nico Williams and Michael Olise were too expensive."

Shedding light on the Magpies' plans for Isak, Romano elaborated:

"Newcastle would ask for crazy money for Isak, he has a long term contract at the club, and they are also thinking internally at the moment about offering him a new deal. Eddie Howe and the owners want him to stay at the club, so at the moment, there is no movement – there is interest from many clubs, of course, but nothing concrete as he's expected to stay at Newcastle."

Asserting that a summer move for Isak is unlikely, Romano concluded:

"Isak's idea is also to continue at Newcastle, so let's see what happens with a possible new contract, but for now, I certainly wouldn't read too much into links with [the Blues] as it's too expensive for them and he's considered untouchable by Newcastle."

Isak, 24, found the back of the net 25 times and provided four assists in 40 outings across competitions for Eddie Howe's side last season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are allegedly also monitoring attackers like Victor Osimhen, Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion, and Dominic Solanke too.
