Chelsea keeping tabs on former youth star linked with a summer move to Manchester City - Reports

Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation of Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala ahead of potentially moving for the youngster in the summer. The former Blues academy player is also in the sights of English champions Manchester City.

Germany international Musiala left Chelsea for Bayern Munich in 2019 after his parents swapped England for Germany. The young midfielder was very highly rated at the club, and his exit was seen as a big blow for the academy, particularly as he left for free.

Musiala has blossomed into one of the finest attacking midfielders in Europe, with his quick feet, creativity, and eye for goal particularly pleasing to watch. His form has brought him back to the radar of the Blues, who are considering making a move to re-sign him, as per journalist Jacob Steinberg.

In recent years, Chelsea have prioritised signing young players with high ceilings, and Jamal Musiala fits the bill. With his prior connection to the club, as well, a move for the 21-year-old would be a no-brainer were he to become available.

Bayern Munich are set to undergo a restructuring following their dethronement as German champions for the first time in 12 years by Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel is set to leave his position as manager once the season ends. Hence, there is an air of uncertainty at the club, which the Blues may take advantage of.

Meanwhile, Manchester City made their interest known earlier, but a move for Musiala can only happen after they sign Lucas Paqueta, their primary target. This would also mean both Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva may have to leave the club.

Musiala would be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge, where close academy friend Levi Colwill has captained the side this season. The German has 12 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances this season for Bayern Munich.

Chelsea set to welcome star for Manchester City clash

Chelsea are set to have experienced forward Raheem Sterling available for their visit to Wembley on Saturday (April 20) in the FA Cup. The Blues will face Manchester City for a place in the final of the prestigious competition.

Former City star Sterling was unavailable for the Blues in their 6-0 hammering of Everton on Monday, having been ruled out through food poisoning. His return would be a welcome boost for the side, who had two U-18 players in the squad on Monday.

Sterling has scored in both of his appearances against Manchester City this season, with both ending in draws in the Premier League. On Saturday, only one of the teams will make it through to the final, and the 29-year-old will hope to be on the winning team. He has registered eight goals and eight assists in 38 games across competitions this season.
