Chelsea and Manchester United target's agent pushed for Liverpool move last month - Reports

According to The Telegraph, Anthony Gordon's agent pushed for a Liverpool move last month with the Newcastle United star also linked with Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Reds reportedly had a meeting with Newcastle ahead of the PSR deadlines. As per reports, at least six clubs are in danger of violating the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rule, which requires a club to stay below £105 million in total loss between 2021 and 2024.

As a result, Liverpool looked to pounce on the opportunity and sign Gordon. The player was also reportedly interested in the move and discussed the same with his England teammates.

Despite Gordon's agent pushing, the Merseysiders showed lukewarm interest and failed to come up with a meaningful bid. Gordon was signed by Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 for £45 million plus add-ons. He scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 48 appearances across competitions in 2023-24.

Gordon is contracted with the Magpies until the end of the 2025-26 season. The forward has also been wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea, as per CaughtOffside.

Liverpool have three other options if they fail to sign Chelsea and Manchester United target Anthony Gordon: Reports

With Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United interested, the race for Anthony Gordon is heating up. As per CaughtOffside, the England international is rated at £75 million.

As per the aforementioned source, the Reds have three other options in mind if they fail to sign Gordon. Eberechi Eze, Mohammed Kudus, and Nico Williams are the other three players the Anfield club are interested in.

Kudus and Eze have proven their worth in the Premier League while Williams has done the same in La Liga and is also tearing Euro 2024 apart. With Arne Slot set to start a new era, the Merseysiders seem keen to provide the Dutch manager with the best available options at his disposal.
