Chelsea ready to offer 3 players including Mykhailo Mudryk in attempt to sign 27-year-old Argentina star in swap deal: Reports
Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer three players, including Mykhailo Mudryk, to Inter Milan in a potential players-plus-cash deal to sign Lautaro Martinez.
The Blues, who are second in the Premier League table with 35 points from 17 games, are said to be on the hunt for a new striker. They were allegedly linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko earlier this summer.
Now, according to Argentine website El Grafico, Chelsea are ready to test Inter Milan's resolve by tabling a bold offer for Martinez. Their proposed bid is said to include a significant amount of cash plus Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, and Carney Chukwuemeka – all of whom are seen as expendable assets now.
Should Martinez secure a permanent move to the Blues, he would offer excellent competition to Nicolas Jackson in head coach Enzo Maresca's 4-2-3-1 setup.
The 27-year-old has helped Inter lift seven trophies, recording 135 goals and 47 assists in 303 total appearances, since arriving from Racing Club in 2018.
Jason Cundy lauds 23-year-old Chelsea star
Speaking recently to talkSPORT, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has showered special praise on Moises Caicedo following his great performances for the Blues this season. He said (h/t Metro):
"Chelsea were good for a kicking by everyone over the media because of the money spent, 'the billion pound bottle jobs', it was hard for anyone to look at Caicedo's performances and really credit them. I've been talking about Caicedo for a while now. This boy is the best midfielder in the country right now."
Claiming that Caicedo is the Blues' best player right now, Cundy added:
"I think he's our most important player. People will argue [Cole] Palmer, I understand that. I think he's our most important player because there's so much he can do and does do. The second goal we scored against Brentford. Win the ball, give it to Enzo, pass, finish."
Cundy, who represented the west London outfit from 1988 to 1992, said:
"We've not seen the likes in the middle of the park winning the ball like that since N'Golo Kante. I'm not just talking about Chelsea, I'm talking about the league. Liverpool fans will say [Ryan] Gravenberch, and I get that because of the influence he's had on their up-turn in results, but right now, Moises Caicedo, wow, what a player."
So far this campaign, Caicedo has started all 17 of his team's Premier League games. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian defensive midfielder has found the back of the opposition net once and registered three assists in the Premier League.
Caicedo, who left Brighton & Hove Albion in a potential £115 million deal in 2023, has recorded two goals and seven assists in 67 total games for the Blues.
