Chelsea set to agree £19 million deal to sign striker from Premier League side - Reports
Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign 18-year-old Aston Villa striker Omari Kellyman, according to journalist David Ornstein. The Blues continue to prioritize up-and-coming talents. They have already secured Estevao Willian while Gianluca Di Marzio reported that a deal for Samu Omorodion is close to being finalized.
Kellyman looks set to be the latest addition to the Blues' talent-rich pool. He is yet to complete his medical, as per the report from Ornstein. Kellyman has represented England at the under-20 level and has so far played six games for Villa's senior team, with one assist under his belt.
Chelsea have Nicolas Jackson and David Datro Fofana in their ranks ahead of the possible arrivals of Kellyman and Omorodion. The club, though, still lacks a goalscorer who is proven in the European circuit.
Instead of spending on proven goalscorers, Todd Boehly and Co. are clearly more interested in continuing their approach of finding young talents in world football.
David Ornstein clears the air about Chelsea pulling out of race for Michael Olise's signature
Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, with the Frenchman now heading to Bayern Munich, according to David Ornstein. The reputed journalist reported that the club made an offer they considered suitable but failed to find an agreement for Olise.
Ornstein said (via Football365):
"The Stamford Bridge hierarchy are aiming to create a more disciplined wage bill than in the past and if a transfer target doesn't fit into that they'd rather reward existing players who out-perform over time or invest in new elite talent on more reasonable salary."
Olise had a productive Premier League campaign with Aston Villa in the 2023-24 season. The winger scored ten goals and provided six assists in 19 appearances while racking up 1,282 minutes of game time.
