Chelsea set to make move for 21-year-old striker with €30 million release clause - Reports
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old TSG Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier. He has a release clause of €30 million, as reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.
The German international has emerged as the latest name to be linked with the Blues, who are currently in the market for a new centre-forward. However, the West London club is not considered a frontrunner for Beier's signature, as per Plettenberg.
Chelsea have previously been linked with the likes of Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion and Benjamin Sesko, who recently renewed his contract with RB Leipzig.
Enzo Maresca's team is reportedly weighing up a move for Beier. He scored 16 goals and three assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
Beier, who is currently on international duty with the German national team at the Euros, is regarded as one of Europe's most promising centre forwards. As per Plettenberg, the player could leave Hoffenheim this summer, with a couple of clubs currently keen on signing the young striker.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea will be able to land the 21-year-old forward this summer amid reported competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea transfer target has "genes to score goals," as per TSG Hoffenheim boss
TSG Hoffenheim manager Pellegrino Matarazzo hailed the 21-year-old German striker in September last year, following a decent start to the 2023-24 football campaign.
By the end of the campaign, his impressive run of form earned him a call-up to the German national team for Euros 2024. He made his Germany debut in a pre-Euros friendly against Ukraine, which ended in a goalless draw.
Matarazzo described Beier as a dynamic centre forward who has the technical ability to get into goal scoring positions. He said(h/t Football Transfers):
"Above all, it is important for him to even get into positions from which he can shoot. He can manage that thanks to his dynamism and technique. You either have those genes or you don't, and Maxi has those genes to score goals."
