Chelsea star agrees personal terms with Premier League rivals; most likely to complete permanent transfer: Reports

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Newcastle United for a potential summer move. The Blues will be open to selling him if they can make a profit.

Madueke joined the west London side from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £29 million. The club will be open to selling him if they can get a higher fee than that this summer, as per Football Insider. He has also agreed personal terms with Newcastle.

Madueke started just 19 games across competitions last season for Chelsea, falling in the pecking order behind Cole Palmer on the right wing. Overall, he made 34 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

The Englishman started in the Blues' first pre-season game against Wrexham in the US on Wednesday, July 24. He played the first half in a 2-2 draw in Enzo Maresca's first game in charge of Chelsea.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are in the market for a right winger due to speculation about Miguel Almiron's future. Moreover, Almiron and Jacob Murphy scored just eight goals across competitions between them last season. They were linked with Michael Olise but he joined Bayern Munich.

The Magpies have also been linked with West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen and Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville. However, they view Madueke as their first choice and could sign him as well.

Enzo Maresca on Chelsea's performance in draw against Wrexham in friendly

Chelsea began life under Enzo Maresca with a 2-2 draw against Wrexham at Levi's Stadium in California on July 24. Christopher Nkunku (35') opened the scoring for them. Luke Bolton (58') and Jack Marriott (71') made it 2-1 for the Red Dragons before Lesley Ugochukwu (82') restored parity.

After the game, Enzo Maresca insisted that he was happy with the performance despite the result, telling the club's media:

"The result is always important but in this moment, the most important thing is to judge the performance, especially after two weeks since we started.
"I was very happy in the first half and also in the second half. It is a shame that we conceded the two goals but overall, when you think about players like Wes who played 45 minutes after a year out and different situations, [I am pleased].
"The result for us is always important but in this moment, we have to judge different things so I am very happy with the performance."

Chelsea will take on Celtic (July 27), Club America (July 31), Manchester City (August 3), and Real Madrid (August 6) next on their US Tour. They will also face Inter Milan in a friendly at Stamford Bridge on August 11.
