Chelsea star linked with a surprise move to Aston Villa in January: Reports
Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been linked with a January switch to Premier League rivals Aston Villa on a temporary basis. The former Leicester City man has failed to establish himself in the plans of coach Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, leading question marks to appear on his future.
Dewsbury-Hall swapped the blue of Leicester City for that of Chelsea in the summer, with the Blues paying a reported £30 million for his signature. The midfielder has yet to start a single game in the Premier League for the side. The bulk of his appearances have come in the Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League.
Fichajes.net have reported that the English midfielder is on the radar of Aston Villa, who are looking to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a second successive season. The report indicates that Villa will be looking to test the waters with a loan offer, including an option to buy the 26-year-old next summer.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca sanctioned the signing of Dewsbury-Hall from his former club. The midfielder played a starring role in Leicester City's Championship success in the 2023-24 season under the Italian manager. Things have not remained the same between the pair at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder also joined the Blues with a minor injury which prevented him from starting pre-season early.
Dewsbury-Hall finds himself behind a number of other midfielders in the pecking order, leading him to make ten appearances across all competitions. The Englishman has scored once for the Blues in his six starts but has made a Premier League matchday squad only five times this season.
Aston Villa may find Chelsea unwilling to sell the midfielder unless they are able to offer them the £30 million they paid for him in the summer. The midfielder himself may be unwilling to move immediately and may look to fight for his place at the club.
Premier League side makes approach for Chelsea ace - Reports
Manchester United have made an initial approach for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, as per a report from L'Equipe. The France international finds himself playing second-fiddle at Stamford Bridge this season, far from ideal for him.
Enzo Maresca seems to prefer Nicolas Jackson leading the line to Nkunku, despite the 26-year-old former RB Leipzig man scoring 10 times this season. Jackson's all-round play is considered important by the coach, hence his decision to stick with him.
Manchester United are prepared to begin a new era under head coach Ruben Amorim, and the club will be keen to make quality additions. A move for a player of Nkunku's quality will elevate the quality of their attack, undoubtedly. He has scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 17 games across competitions this season.
