Chelsea in talks with German giants over becoming their next main shirt sponsor: Reports

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with German multinational financial services company Allianz over becoming their next shirt sponsor. The Blues are searching for their next shirt sponsors as their deal with mobile company Three ends this summer.

As per journalist Ben Jacobs, Todd Boehly and co are working on a deal with Allianz, but the German giants are not the only ones in the race. The new owners are in talks with several companies as they look to better the £40 million per season deal with Three.

In his weekly column on Si & Dan TalkChelsea, Jacobs noted:

"Just a final word on Chelsea's new incoming shirt sponsor. The club have been looking at a variety of options. They are seeking an immersive and global partner rather than just someone to pay in order to slap a logo on their shirt."

He added:

"By this I mean Chelsea want a main sponsor who offers wider club and fan benefit and has a bit more of a global audience. And usually when you narrow it down to that you're looking at banks or insurers, cars, airlines and technology giants. There's definitely been some talks with Allianz. Chelsea are hoping to tie up something sooner rather than later so they can get all the assets together ahead of the new season launch."

Three have not been popular with the Blues fans as the majority did not like the logo on the front of the shirts.

Three halted sponsorship with Chelsea after sanctions to previous owner

Three suspended their sponsorship deal with Chelsea in March 2022 after previous owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government.

In a statement released to the press, Three noted:

"In light of the government's recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice. We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do."

Chelsea were asked to play without the mobile company's logo on their shirts, but as the club's accounts were frozen, they could not get new kits and had to continue using the kits that were already made.
