Deco holds meeting with agent of Barcelona target as he plots swift transfer - Reports

FC Barcelona are reportedly plotting another signing to boost their attacking options for the coming season. Deco is reportedly set to meet forward Dani Olmo's agent to make the Spaniard Barcelona's second signing of the season.

According to JijantesFC (via X/ReshadFCB), Olmo's agent and Deco had a successful meeting with the former currently negotiating with the 26-year-old's club RB Leipzig. If it goes through, Olmo will follow Pau Victor as the club aims to provide new manager Hansi Flick with potent attacking options to challenge Real Madrid.

Despite starting Spain's first two matches of their successful Euro 2024 campaign on the bench, Olmo turned out to be their star at the competition. The RB Leipzig star contributed with three goals and two assists in six matches and an off-the-line headed clearance in the final against England to help La Roja lift the Euros for the fourth time in their history.

Barcelona is not Dani Olmo's only possible destination

Earlier in the summer, the in-demand forward highlighted that he has made it clear to his representatives where he wants to play his football next season, but mentioned that he has "several options".

“The people who deal with these matters already know what I want,” Olmo told reporters (via Barca Blaugranes). “What I want is to be in a place where I am valued and the most important thing for me is to win, I am very ambitious."

When asked specifically about Barcelona he mentioned:

“There are several options, the people who manage my affairs know what I want, as I said.”

He admitted that it was nice to be associated with big teams and mentioned that his current club knew how ambitious he was, indicating that the club would not stand in his way should he decide to move to greener pastures.

Managing Director of Sport for RB Leipzig, Marcel Schaefer accepted that the club is ready to listen to offers for the Spaniard. However, he highlighted that Barcelona, or any other interested club, will have to do the deal at their valuation.

“We are ready to talk about it. But Dani has a certain value. That is why we are comfortable now. Dani is an exceptional player,” Schaefer said in an interview to Sport.
