Edu already in talks over next job after leaving role of sporting director at Arsenal: Reports

Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar is already in talks to take over his next job after parting ways with the Gunners, according to TBR Football. A recent report from The Daily Mail has stated that the Brazilian has decided to leave the north London side.

While nothing's official yet, it appears that Edu has already been in touch with Evangelos Marinakis, who owns Olympiacos, Nottingham Forest, and Rio Ave. The Greek businessman apparently wants the Brazilian to be part of his football business setup.

Edu could have a job profile similar to former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who is the Head of Global Soccer for RB Leipzig. If the Brazilian ends up leaving the Emirates, he could be appointed as CEO of footballing operations by Marinakis.

Edu initially joined Arsenal as their first even technical director in 2019. He was appointed as the club's sporting director in 2022 and he has done a commendable job so far.

The Brazilian has overseen some smart acquistions at the Emirates in the past couple of summer, including the likes of Declan Rice. The Gunners have invested heavily in talented young players under Mikel Arteta.

Edu has worked in close proximity with the Spanish manager and helped transform the north London side into an exciting team. As such, his sudden decision will be a big blow to Arsenal's ambitions. It is believed that the Brazilian has struggled to work with the club's hierarchy of late.

Mikel Arteta also signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea to strengthen his attack. The north London side signed David Raya permanently, and added Neto to their kitty to replace the outgoing Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal were expected to hit a higher gear this year, but have endured a mixed start to the new campaign. Arteta's team are fifth in the Premier League table after 10 games, with five wins and two defeats to their name.

The Gunners are winless in their last three games in the league, which includes two defeats and a draw. The Spanish manager has to get his act together soon, with his team already seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
