England superstar set for surprise change in position as rumored team news ahead of Greece clash leaksĀ
According to a report from SPORTbible England midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to take up a new position for the Three Lions when they face Greece in their upcoming UEFA Nations League clash. The Real Madrid star is believed to be the favored player to lead the line for the Euro 2024 finalists in the upcoming game.
Bellingham operates in attacking and central midfield but has played as the most advanced central player for his club last season. The report now suggests that he will do the same for his country as a false nine in the upcoming game.
Lee Carsley is set to lead England out for a third time since he took over from Gareth Southgate on an interim basis after the latter fell at the final of the European Championships for a second consecutive tournament.
The Three Lions head into the game following a good run of results after beating The Republic of Ireland and Finland 2-0 a piece in their previous two games under Carsley.
"We won't take a chance" - England boss cautious following Harry Kane knock
England boss Lee Carsley is cautious about including Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane in the current round of international fixtures after he picked up a knock in his last game for his club. The Three Lions captain limped off the pitch during Bayern's 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga before the international break.
Kane is the highest all-time goalscorer for the Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 finalists, with 68 goals and 19 assists across a century of caps. Despite his injury, Carsley has included him in the team called up to face Greece and Finland in the UEFA Nations League.
However, Carsley remains cautious about Kane's involvement, telling the media (via SPORTbible):
"Harry's nursing an injury. A small knock. It's something we won't take a chance with. We're not ruling him out yet of the game but he won't start the game. He'll be in contention then for Sunday. Time will tell. It's not something we should be rushing."
The England international has been in fine form for his club so far this season, bagging 10 goals and six assists across 10 games. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker will be keen to return to the pitch and continue his fine run of form in the games to come.
