Erik ten Hag ready to offer Manchester United star to Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong - Reports

According to Catalan outlet El Nacional, Erik ten Hag is ready to offer Scott McTominay in a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona. The Dutch manager wants to reunite with De Jong having previously worked successfully with him at Ajax.

Ten Hag has long been interested in bringing De Jong to Old Trafford. The midfielder has been linked several times, but a move has never materialized. Ten Hag is reportedly willing to offer €35 million plus McTominay for De Jong.

Hansi Flick, meanwhile, has now taken charge of the Catalan club and it is understood that he doesn't want to let De Jong go, especially in a player-plus-cash deal. As per the report, a €75 million bid could change Flick and Barcelona's stance.

Flick reportedly admires De Jong's qualities and believes he could become a key player for his side. De Jong's abilities, such as connecting with the channels and playing an anchoring role in the midfield are well appreciated by the German manager.

Meanwhile, De Jong is also understood to be more willing to stay at Barca than ever. Hence, Manchester United's reported interest could once again end in disappointment.

The midfielder joined Barca from Ajax in 2019 and has so far made 213 appearances, scoring 17 goals and providing 21 assists. His current deal with the Catalan club runs until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Barcelona interested in former Manchester United star: Reports

Sergio Reguilon's agent has reportedly confirmed that Barcelona are interested in signing the full-back from Tottenham Hotspur. Reguilon spent the first half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Manchester United.

His stay, though, was cut short and the 27-year-old Spaniard played for Brentford on loan during the second half of the campaign. Barcelona are reportedly looking to sign a left-back after Alejandro Balde's injury left the club short of options last season.

Reguilon is experienced in Spanish football. An academy product of Real Madrid, Reguilon also played for the Madrid giants' first team. He has represented clubs like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla as well.

In English football, Reguilon has played for Tottenham, Manchester United, and Brentford. His deal with Spurs expires in 2025 and it is understood that Spurs are also keen to offload the six-cap Spain international.

Hence, Barca could get an experienced player in a cut-price deal, given his current contract situation. It'd also suit the Catalan club's transfer policy in the cash-strapped situation.
