European giants close to sealing deal to sign star previously linked with Manchester United - Reports

According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are set to seal a deal for former Manchester United target Joao Neves. PSG have reportedly struck a €70 million deal with Benfica regarding Neves' transfer.

A player is also expected to move to the Liga Portugal side as part of the deal. Renato Sanches could potentially return to Benfica, as per Romano. Neves' move could be official soon.

Joao Neves recently emerged as one of the best midfield prospects in European football. The 19-year-old has so far made 75 appearances for Benfica's senior team, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

Despite previous suggestions that Benfica won't let the player leave for less than his release clause, the Liga Portugal side have seemingly loosened their stance. Rui Costa recently confirmed that the club are in negotiations with a top European club.

Manchester United were previously linked with a move for Neves and fans dreamt about the youngster linking up with compatriot Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park. The Red Devils, though, have so far signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

They have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Ugarte but are yet to send an offer as they need to sell players to sign the Uruguayan defensive midfielder.
